The Challenge

Americans comprise some 5% of the world’s population but are responsible for some 25% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. How do we mitigate the damage we are so responsible for causing?

Mitigation takes many forms, including improvements in energy efficiency, lifestyle and workstyle changes, reductions in fossil fuel usage, conservation, and adoption of renewable energy sources. These measures will also enhance our energy independence, strengthening national security.

Renewable energy takes many forms too, including biomass, geothermal, hydropower, wind and solar. Of these, solar may be the most promising: it can be used to generate electricity or to heat water, has little visual impact, and scales well from residential to industrial levels.

Unbelievably, there are forces at work both in the corridors of political power and the boardrooms of industry that oppose renewable energy development. To fight against the forces that see their interests somehow threatened by the renewable revolution, Americans must unite behind the promise of clean energy, produced by Americans for Americans. We owe it to ourselves, to our children, and to the planet to meet the challenge.

Here’s how we can meet our energy challenge.
